There is a danger that Pakistani batsmen will face difficulties in GABBA night test. Australian captain Steven Smith has warned that playing pink ball in humid conditions will not be easy.
According to details, the night test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in GABBA stadium of Brisbane from 5th December 2016. The experiment of night test in Australia has been made one year earlier in Adelaide against New Zealand but conditions are completely different in Brisbane. The conditions are humid here where it will be difficult for batsmen to play pink ball. Former cricketers and experts have also warned about this issue.
There are several dangers about pink ball. During history’s first night test in Adelaide, quite much grass was left on the pitch in order to keep the pink ball usable for 80 overs. If the same thing happened in GABBA then the situation could become more difficult. Australian captain Steven Smith said about this issue that last year’s night match in GABBA was a good one as it is the best place for such match but now they have to play the night match in GABBA which will be different according to the ball. Conditions in Brisbane are humid and it will create problems for batsmen.
If the grass remained on pitch then it will be difficult for the batsmen to play. Smith added that they need to improve the ball so that extra grass would not be required to save its shape. While replying a question about refusal of South African players to play a night test, Smith told that they talked to the South African players about night test and pink ball during their previous South African tour but he thinks that boards of both the countries will take the final decision.
It should be remembered that Cricket Australia is trying to convince the SA board to play a night test in Adelaide this year but the South African players are opposing this idea.
