Muhammad Irfan, who was suspended for spot fixing case, has been fined Rs. 1 million and banned from cricket for 1 year.
The legal team of PCB told during a press conference in Lahore that Muhammad Irfan has been banned from cricket for 1 year during which he could not play cricket for 6 months. During this period, if Irfan maintains discipline, took part in PCB anti-corruption lecture and pay Rs. 1 million fine then his remaining punishment will be pardoned. During his ban, his central contract will be suspended and he will remain away from every type of cricket.
During the press conference, Muhammad Irfan said that he was suspended due to spot fixing on 14th March. On two different occasions, he was offered for spot fixing but he rejected these offers. But he could not inform PCB about these offers for which he is ashamed from the whole nation.
Under central contract, Muhammad Irfan receives Rs. 500,000 per month which means he will be deprived of minimum Rs. 3 million while he will also miss the upcoming Champions Trophy.
