Maria Sharapova’s Drug Test failed at Australian Open

The dope test of famous Russian tennis star and former World No. Maria Sharapova came positive. During a press conference in Los Angeles, Maria told that she remained unsuccessful in a drug test during Australian Open. She said she takes full responsibility for this positive dope test. She told that she is using the medicine ‘Mildronate’ according to prescription from her family physician since last 10 years. Few days ago, she received a letter from International Tennis Federation which told her that ‘Meldonium’ is the other name of ‘Mildronate’ but she was unaware about that before.

Maria added that it should be considered that this medicine was not prohibited by WADA for last ten years and she was using the medicine legally from past 10 years. But the laws were changed on 1st January and ‘Meldonium’ became included in banned drugs but she was not aware about that. She has to face consequences for this mistake but she is hopeful that she will be given another chance.

28 year old Maria Sharapova became No. 1 tennis player in 2005 and now she is at 7th spot in world ranking. She is the most earning athlete from last 11 years and she has earned 26 million pounds with tennis only.
