National Test team captain Misbah ul Haq says that it’s surprising that team facing problem become no 1 test team. He said while giving interview to an Australian newspaper that there were severe pressure on Pakistan cricket team in 2010 and he was not included in the 35 players of camp but former PCB chairman Ijaz Butt called him in board’s office and immediately offered him to be the captain while everyone was surprised when he became captain of all the three formats of the game. It was difficult for him to take responsibility of captaincy in such time but now the team has become number 1 team in a dramatic way which is like winning the world cup.
Misbah ul Haq said that it doesn’t matter if you occupy the top place for even a day, week or month but it increases the moral of players. They have to show good performance in UAE against West Indies and then there are series against New Zealand and Australia and these are huge exams. He replied on a question that when they went to England, everyone was saying the English victory for 3-0 or 4-0 but they leveled the series. He thinks that the team is capable and can defeat Australian at its home ground also.
Misbah said that clean sweep against England in UAE in 2012 was a great achievement. The boys have fighting spirit while they lost against England in Old Trafford badly after winning the Lord’s test. Even after getting ahead several times in Edgbaston test, they could not win the match. Despite pressure, the whole team worked as a unit and gave the gift of Independence Day to nation by winning Oval test.
