The 1st test match between Pakistan and England of 4-match series has ended in four days and now Pakistan is leading the test match series 1-0 after defeating England by 75 runs. The Pakistan v England test match was played at Lord’s cricket stadium.
After winning the toss, Pakistan batted first and scored 339 runs. Captain Misbah ul Haq scored a brilliant century (114) while he was well supported by Asad Shafiq (73), M Hafiz (40) and Younis Khan (33). Woakes remained the top wicket taker from England side as he took 6 wickets while Broad took 3 and Ball took 1 wicket. In reply, England could only score 272 runs and Pakistan took the lead of 67 runs. A Cook (81), J Root (48) and C Woakes (35) remained top scorers from England.
In 2nd innings, Pakistan could only manage to score 215 runs and gave the target of 283 runs to England. Asad Shafiq (49), Sarfraz Ahmed (45) and Yasir Shah (30) remained top scorers for Pakistan. Woakes again remained best bowler for England as he took 5 wickets in the innings and 11 wickets in the match while Broad took 3 and Moeen Ali took 2 wickets. In the last innings, England were bowled out for just 207 runs and Pakistan won the match by 75 runs. Bairstow, Balance and Vince scored 40+ runs each. Yasir Shah took 10 wickets in the match and 4 wickets in the innings. Raht Ali took 3 initial wickets while M Amir took 2 and Wahab Riaz took 1 wicket. Yasir Shah was given man of the match award for his 10 wickets.
After 1996, it is the first victory of Pakistan at Lard’s.
