Pakistan’s number 1 position in test ranking is in danger as India is just one victory away to take top team award from Pakistan. Victory in Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata will make India became number 1 team in test cricket.
According to details, India lost 1st position after drawing last match against West Indies due to rain after which Pakistan took the title of world’s top test team for the first time. Few days ago, CEO of ICC David Richardson gave mace of test championship but now Indians are close to get it.
India defeated New Zealand in its 500th match which has almost ended the points’ difference between Pakistan and India and now it only needs to win one out of two matches against New Zealand. In contrary to ODI and T20 matches, test ranking is released after the end of a series due to which announcement of no 1 team will be made after the end of current series even if India wins the next match.
Interesting thing is that the battle between no 1 team is not only between Pakistan and India but the teams of Australia and England are also quite close. If Pakistan loses the top position after Indian victory even then it can regain this position after whitewashing the West Indian team in test matches.
