PCB Chairman Sheharyar Khan told that Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held next year in Qatar and its preparations are underway. The experts of PCB have chosen Qatar for the tournament due to already booking of the grounds of UAE. The government of Qatar is also helping them. Later, they will try to organize this tournament in Pakistan. He said that they might not get benefit the first year but after that they can get monetary gain. PCB has sent the MoU of the tournament to the official of Qatar for approval. A proposal has been sent to Qatar Olympic Association in which PCB has demanded to upgrade the only cricket ground of the country. It is expected that the PSL will be played next year in Qatari capital Doha.
Initially, PCB planned to conduct its franchise league in UAE which is the alternative home ground of PCB since 2009 and Pakistan has played almost all its domestic tournaments here. But when PCB contacted English Cricket Board (ECB) for this matter they were informed that these grounds have already been booked for Masters Champions League (MCL) in February. MCL announced this league on 3rd June in a ceremony on Burj Al Arab in which Brian Lara, Wasim Akram and Adam Gilchrist also participated. Administrations of these grounds are in the hand of ECB which refused to give three stadiums to PCB due to the already announced league.
Now Pakistan can select Doha as the home ground for its U-19, women and A team matches. The plan of T20 league by PCB came forward five years earlier but the matters could not be finalized ever. According to the new draft system, all the best players will be divided in 5 franchise teams.
