Pakistan Cricket Board has signed the central contact with the players, whose names are announced and their categories are also announced. There are some players like Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood, Junaid Khan and Fawad Alam, who are not considered for the central contracts. There are two players, Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad, who are demoted from the C category to the D category.
PCB has signed the contract agreement with the players for the period from 01 October 2016 to 30 June 2017. There are seven players, who are placed in the A category and they are Sarfaraz Ahmed, Misbah ul Haq, Yasir Shah, Shoaib Malik, Muhammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali and Younis Khan. There are four players, who are placed in the B category and they are Muhammad Aamer, Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali and Asad Shafique.
In the C category of the central contract of PCB, there are Muhammad Rizwan, Sohail Khan, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Sami Aslam, Muhammad Nawaz, Imran Khan Senior, Khalid Latif, Sharjeel Khan, Sohail Tanveer, Shan Masood, Muhammad Irfan, Imad Waseem and Hassan Ali. In the D category, there are total five players and they are Anwar Akmal, Umar Akmal, Zulfiqar Babar, Ahmed Shahzad and Muhammad Asghar.
