Rain Restricted to 50 Over of Play on 1st Day of Melbourne Test

In Melbourne test, the rain stopped the play when Pakistan was 142 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 1st innings. Pakistani batting is underway in the 1st inning of test played at Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground. The national team was 142 for 4 at tea when the play stopped due to rain but the play could not restart due to continuous rain and umpires announced the end of 1st day’s play later.

After winning toss, Pakistan decided to bat first. Pakistan lost its first wicket on 18 in 13th over when the wicket of Sami Aslam was taken by N Lyon. At the total score of 60, Babar Azam also lost is wicket after scoring 23 runs. After 51 runs partnership, Younis Khan was bowled by J Bird. He scored 21 runs and the total score was 111.

Captain Misbah ul Haq came after Younis but his stay on wicket was also short lived and he got out on 11 when the total score was 125 runs. At 142 for 4, the rain started due to which the match was ended after just 50.5 overs. Azhar was batting at 66 and Asad Shafiq was on crease with 4 runs. J Bird took 2 wickets while Hazlewood and Lyon took 1 wicket each.
