Shahid Afridi to play his 5th world cup next year

Nest year, Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi and Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jaywardene will become the most experienced players as both will play their 5th world cup.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the list of preliminary squads of 2015 world cup. Australia and Ireland has sent their players’ list but it hasn’t been disclosed publically. Pakistan has put Shahid Afridi in the opening squad. Shahid Afridi was present in all the world cups since 1999. Like that, Mahela Jayawardene also participated in the previous 4 world cups.

Shahid Afridi and M Jayawardene will be included in the list of players who have played in 5 world cups if they play 2015 WC. In this list, there are Wasim Akram, S Chanderpaul, A de Silva, Inzamam-ul-Haq, S Jayasuriya, Imran Khan and others. Javed Miandad participated in world cups from 1975 to 1996 while Sachin Tendulkar played from 1992 to 2011 world cups. 7 players will play the world cup four times including James Anderson, Chris Gayle, B McCullum, Younis Khan, Robin Peterson, K Sangakkara and D Vettori. World cup’s most aged player Khurram Khan (43 years) and youngest player Yudhan Panja (15 years) are from UAE.
