Tokyo Olympics 2020 Cancelled

It is reported that the PM of Japan and the President of IOC agreed in a meeting to postpone the Olympic Games for one year due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. It is decided that the Tokyo Olympic 2020 will be conducted during the summer season in 2021 but these games will still be known as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic. The discussion on the Olympic games were going on and some nations had already withdrawn from the games by stating about the public and athlete health concerns.

Tokyo Olympics Postponed for One Year

The pressure was increased on the IOC and Japan in the recent days because some countries withdrew their athletes to participate in these Olympic because of the outbreak of COVID-19 across the world and the Olympic committee and the Japanese government have to make the decision for the postponement of the Olympic games Tokyo 2020 for about one year. As the situation of the coro0navirus spreading is becoming worse across the globe and it is not possible for any country to participate in the games due to health concerns of their officials and athletes and the economic conditions of most of the countries have also been deteriorated badly, which takes some time to improve. Now the Japanese government and the IOC has made the final decision to manage the Olympics next year during the summer season but the Olympics will be known as Tokyo Olympic 2020.

Crowd during Psl 2020

Before this, the PCB was going to conduct the play offs of the PSL 5 as scheduled earlier but due to threat of COVID-19 outbreak, the PSC changed the schedule and decided to conduct the two semi finals and one final between the two semi final winners. But increasing threat of the corona virus across the country, the PCB decided to postpone the remaining matches. Now PCB is looking on the other options to end this PSL 5 edition.

South Africa will visit Pakistan next month the news and leaks are surfacing on media. Both the teams are expected to face each other in three Matches of T20I series. The media leaks the News from PCB sources that the PCB will host the Proteas on 24th, 26th, and 28th March. Surprisingly these Match between South Africa Vs Pakistan are scheduled to be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The fans are much excited as their hunger was shown in the test matches played in Rawalpindi. South Africa will fly to India on 18^th March and PSL final will be held on 22^nd March.

“We now have Rawalpindi as a venue available. For me, it makes sense to go there and play the three matches. I have suggested Rawalpindi as a venue, and they are comfortable with the suggestion”

However, South Africa will have to be given security clearance and obtain a satisfactory report from security officials who will come to Pakistan at the start of PSL 2020.

The CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board PCB, Wasim Khan is thinking to add the more cities for PSL 2021 to engage the cricket fans from around the country and to upgrade venues for international Cricket. As Rawalpindi, Multan, Karachi and Lahore are already hosting the matches but by the 2021 more cities will be added.

“By next year, we want to be in a position to add a couple of more venues. We are looking to develop more and more venues which provide us an opportunity to take the game around the country”

The CEO further added

“We are looking at Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, which hosted the National T20 Cup and needs a little up-gradation after which it can be an international venue, and Hyderabad, for which we are working with Sindh government for its up-gradation”
