Azhar Mehmood will join the national cricket team as bowling coach today. Is first responsibility will be to prepare the bowlers for tour of New Zealand. The board selected him for his experience of working with the team. One year agreement has been made with him that could be extended.
According to details, the new bowling coach Azhar Mehmood has played 21 test matches and 141 ODI matches for Pakistan while the former all rounder has already played the role of bowling coach during Asia Cup, World T20 2016 and limited overs match during English tour. His first assignment is the test series against New Zealand from 17th November 2016. He has signed an agreement and he will join the team in Sharjah on Wednesday.
An official of PCB told that Azhar Mehmood has been appointed considering his working experience with national team. Former all rounder had to be given responsibilities before the series against West Indies but th3e agreement took some time. Now he has been appointed after final agreement.
Pakistan cricket team will play two test matches during tour of New Zealand. First test match will start from 17th November and the second from 25th November 2016.
UK citizenship holder Azhar Mehmood will be given $10,000 monthly along with facilities according to a foreigner coach. He can also take return ticket of London from board three times in a year. The agreement can be exceeded if he gives good result. In his first era, he could not improve performance of bowlers.
