ICC Suspend Azhar Ali for One Match

ICC has suspended Pakistani captain Azhar Ali for one match after finding him responsible for slow over rate. Azhar Ali will pay 40% of match fee while 20% match fee will be deducted from other players. This suspension on Azhar Ali is due to not completing overs in allotted time in the last ODI match against Australia. Pakistani cricketer was 2 overs behind at the end of time. If Azhar remains captain till the West Indian tour in April 2017 then he will not be able to play the first match of the tour.
This punishment was given due to slow over rate for 2nd time in 12 months. Prior to that, he was fined 20% of match fee on 31st January 2016 in the match against New Zealand due to slow over rate while he lost total match fee in November against New Zealand in Hamilton when he was leading the team in the absence of Misbah ul Haq.
Azhar Ali faced difficulties during Australian tour. He scored 24 runs and suffered hamstring during 1st match after which he could not play next two matches while he could only score 7 and 6 runs in the last two matches respectively.
