Kingston, West Indies and Pakistan played the first test match of the three matches series in West Indies and this match was played at Jamaica. Pakistan won the first test match against West Indies due to its tremendous performance in both the innings. When first test match was started, West Indies lost its initial wickets cheaply and the late coming players struggled hard to take the total to 286 runs. Pakistan made 407 runs in the first innings in which Misbah made 99 runs not out and Babar Azam scored 72 runs. Younis Khan scored 58 runs and he also completed his 10,000 runs haul in the first innings and Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 54 runs.
In the first inning, Muhammad Amir took six wickets for 44 runs and Yasir Shah got two wickets while Abbas and Wahab took one wicket each. Pakistan took 121 runs lead in the first inning. When West Indies started its second inning, it has faced many problems as its opening players and the important players failed to score and they were restricted to 152 runs giving 31 runs lead to Pakistan. Pakistani players got the target for loss of three wickets and in this way, Pakistan won the first test match by 7 wickets.
Yasir Shah got six wickets in the second inning and he restricted West Indian side to 152 runs and did not allow them to make big score in the second inning and Pakistan won the match easily for the loss of three wickets. Yasir Shah was awarded with man of the match award for taking 8 wickets in the first test match between West Indies vs Pakistan.
