Record opening partnership against India by Azhar and Fakhar

Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman have established the highest opening partnership from Pakistan against India in ICC events.

The match was played in Oval in which Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman scored 128 runs in 23 overs for the 1st wicket partnership. Azhar Ali got run out after scoring 59 runs in 71 balls with 6 fours and a six while Fakhar Zaman scored 1st hundred of his career and got out after scoring 114 runs in 106 balls with 3 sixes and 12 fours.

Before that, Aamer Sohail and Saeed Anwar scored 84 runs partnership in the quarter final match of 1996 ODI World Cup but the match was won by India by 39 runs. In a match of the ODI World Cup 2003 in Centurion, Saeed Anwar and Taufiq Umar scored 58 runs as openers while India also won that match by 6 wickets. In the recent event, Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali scored 47 runs against India while this match was also won by India.
