Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar Khan said that PCB has decided to file an appeal for the removal of the ban over Muhammad Amer within one week. He said that the legal department with the consultation of the legal advisors, the appeal for waive of the ban from Muhammad Amer will be prepared and it will be sent to ICC. PCB made it clear that they will not file appear for Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif.
When Pak cricket team toured to England then the three Pak players, including Muhammad Asif, Salman Butt and Muhammad Amer were banned for the spot fixing scandal in August 2010 in England during the fourth test match of the series at Lord’s.
These players were caught in England and they were sent to jail to spend some years there. ICC put ban over these players and Muhammad Amer was banned for minimum 5 years, which is going to be completed till new year. Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif were banned for more years.
PCB opted that the case of Muhammad Amer is different from Asif and Salman Butt, as these two players did not accept their guilt and they will have to provide the innocence of themselves & they were wrongly involved in the case. PCB Chairman has also said that they will have to ensure that they will reform themselves then their cases will be sent to ICC for necessary consideration.
On the other side, Muhammad Amer accepted his fault being involved in the spot fixing scandal and he also assured that he will reform himself. It is also said that he will be away from the international cricket. His case is anti-corruption code and they will look into his case, which will take some time. PCB filed the appeal in the ICC and ACSU is the only authority, which can look into the matter of the relaxation of the banned players. Before this, another Pakistani player, Danish Kaneria is also punished with the life time ban for involving in the spot fixing case since 2012
