ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

ICC World Cup 2015 (1)

Almost 23 years have been passed when Imran Khan under his captaincy beat England to win the World Cup title in Melbourne. The ICC World Cup 2015 final will be again hosted by the Melbourne while semi finals would be hosted in Auckland and Sydney like in the 1992 World-cup.

The ICC World Cup 2015 will be co hosted by Australia and New Zealand and therefore a wide range of alternative options for the major matches had been discussed by them before the formal announcement of official fixtures in Melbourne on Tuesday which includes the possibility of Semi or Final to be played at Sydney Olympic Stadium and Adelaide Oval even.

The same formula of handing matches to the SCG and Eden Park where the most important match of the event takes place on MCG on 29th March where a crowd of more than 87000 people witnessed the jubilance of Imran Khan’s team, will be retained by the organizers which they used in 1992 World Cup

The total number of matches to be played in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is 49 in 14 cities for 44 days which will continue throughout the months of February and March 2015. The summer test series between India and Australia has been shortened to four test matches because of the lengthy schedule of the World Cup. Two groups have been formed consisting of 7 teams and every team will have to play 6 pool matches before the advancement of top four in to the quarter finals, semis or finals.
