The organizers of the tournament have increased the number of teams from 6 to 8 and allowed Pakistan to play this tournament. Japan is also allowed to play the tournament.
According to the details, Pakistan hockey team is invited to play the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament after about two years. The organizers have analyzed the format of the tournament and they increased the number of teams from 6 to 8 for the tournament, which is scheduled in April next year. In this tournament, various other teams like India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Argentine including host Malaysia. With the increase in number of teams, Pakistan and Japan will also play this tournament.
In the edition of 2014, PHF said sorry to send the team in the tournament in Malaysia keeping in view the financial difficulties. Last year, the organizers took the revenge from Pakistan and they did not invite Pakistan to play the tournament. This tournament was started in 1983 in Malaysia and this tournament is being played every year. Pakistan participated in the tournament every year and showed his tremendous performance. Pakistan won three gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals.
