Pakistan Beats West Indies in 1st T20 Match

In the first T20 match of 4 match series, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 6 wickets and is now leading the series 1-0.

The match was played in Kensington Oval Ground in which national team’s captain Sarfraz Ahmed decided to field first after winning the toss. In their allotted 20 overs, the host team scored 111 runs for the loss of 8 wickets while green shirts achieved the target in 17.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. While chasing the target, Ahmed Shahzad and Kamran Akmal started the innings with confidence and Ahmed Shahzad lost is wicket after scoring 13 at the score of 25 after which Kamran Akmal also lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs. M Hafeez and Babar Azam scored 5 and 29 runs respectively.

On 5th wicket, Shoaib Malik and captain Sarfraz Ahmed scored 20 runs and achieved the target of 112 in 17.1 overs. Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed remained unbeaten on 38 and 4 runs respectively. From West Indies team, Jason Holder took 2 wickets while Samuel Badree and C Brathwaite took 1 wicket each. Shadab Khan achieved man of the match award for performing best in the match.

In the first inning, Lewis and Walton started batting for West Indies and Lewis got run out at 10 after which Samuels (7), Walton (18), K Pollard (18), R Powell (5), L Simmons (01) and S Narine (1) also got out cheaply.

Captain C Brathwaite batted sensibly and scored 34 runs in 27 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. From Pakistan side, Shadab took 3 wickets while 1 wicket each was taken by Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali. Kamran Akmal has made a comeback after 3 years while it was the debut match for Shadab Khan.
