The broadcasting rights for the series in Sri Lanka will be reserved. If the competitions are held between Pakistan and India and it will be broadcast, then it will benefit for PCB and channels, which have the media right for Pakistan cricket.
According to the details, the Pak vs India cricket series was going to be played in UAE under the MoU but BCCI forced to play this series in its country. Keeping in view the security situation and different financial matters, this offer was not acceptable for Pakistan. PCB Chairman, Sheheryar Khan was forced that this was their own home series. In such situation, the name of Sri Lanka was also discussed as the substitute or neutral venue. If these matches would be played in India then no other channel except Star Sports can broadcast these matches. Star sports has the agreement with BCCI to broadcast matches within India and Pakistan. If this series is declared the home series for Pakistan, then there will be some legal implications.
PCB has done the contract of media rights for 5 years with Ten Sports and it can broadcast the matches from Sri Lanka under this agreement. The Premiere league is also being played in Bangladesh. In this situation, the series conducted in Islands was the solution of all problems. Pakistan cricket board has contract with Ten Sports and the big financial portion of the contract depends on this matter that Pakistan will play two home series against India in these five years. If these traditional matches are not played that PCB will lose the earning of 60% of the broadcasting rights.
