Pakistan Wins First Match In Azlan Shah Hockey

Pakistan started Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament with a victory and defeated Canada with 3-1 in its first match.

Pakistan played its first match after 10 months and the relatively junior team played well in its initial match. Both the teams played defensively in first quarter and neither team could score a goal. In the start of second quarter, Pakistan forward line started successful attacks and Arslan Qadir scored first goal in 27th minute.

In the next minute, Arslan Qadir scored second goal for Pakistan on the rebound of penalty corner. Canada attacked several times in 3rd quarter but Pakistan foiled these attacks. Canada scored its first goal in the 4th round but just after few seconds, M Tauseeq scored 3rd goal from Pakistan which proved decisive. Pakistan will play its second match on 9th April against New Zealand.
